The 2017 PRFH Scholarship Program IS NOW CLOSED

The 2017-2018 Public Relations of Foundation of Houston scholarship is now closed.  The PRFH offers three scholarships for Freshman/Sophomore Undergraduate, Junior/Senior Undergraduate, and Graduate students.  The application process is now done online through the PRSA Foundation website.

Congratulations to our 2017 PRFH Scholarship Winners!

This year, PRFH awarded scholarships to six outstanding students studying public relations. The 2017 recipients are:

Freshman/Sophomore Students:

Alyssa Foley, Houston Community College; Reagan Bisel, Trinity University

Junior/Senior Student:

Teddi Cliett, Sam Houston State University

Graduate Students:

Felicia Russell Perez, University of Houston; Dorina Carrillo-Gamboa, Syracuse University; Wendy Pierce, University of Houston

Supporting the education of these talented and dedicated young people would not be possible without your continued support of the Foundation. The PRFH gave out $12,000 in scholarships in 2016, and we look forward to continuing to help fund the education of rising PR and communications professionals!

Freshman/Sophomore Undergraduate Students Scholarship

The Freshman/Sophomore PRFH scholarship is for $3,000 scholarship ($1,500 for two semesters) and is awarded to a full-time freshman/sophomore level student pursuing an undergraduate degree in public relations or related fields and who is from or attending a higher education institution in the southeast Texas region.

If the PRFH board of trustees interview panel agrees by a two-third majority vote that other scholarship finalists are deserving of support, they can award up to $2,000 in additional funds.

The Public Relations Foundation of Houston, the charitable arm of PRSA Houston, has focused on supporting college students in and from the Houston area studying PR or a communications-related field. The Foundation awards a scholarship each year to a deserving student. Thanks to generous contributions from our donors, we now have the funds to provide three $3,000 scholarships. The scholarship levels now include:

  • freshman/sophomore (undergraduate)
  • junior/senior (undergraduate)
  • graduate (master's degree program or equivalent)

Recipients have the opportunity to be recognized and attend the PRSA Houston Excalibur Awards Gala held every June.
