Join us the day after the presidential election to hear an analysis of the impact of popular culture on politics from a reknowned expert: UT's Dr. Roderick P. Hart. PRSA Houston will generously donate the proceeds of this luncheon to the Public Relations Foundation of Houston, the mission of which is to enhance the quality of education by creating a permanent educational endowment that provides scholarships for students studying communications and/or public relations at local universities.

"Roderick Hart may be among the few Americans who believe that what politicians say in a campaign actually matters. He also believes that campaigns work. Even as television coverage, political ads, and opinion polls turn elections into field days for marketing professionals, Hart argues convincingly that campaigns do play their role in sustaining democracy, mainly because they bring about a dialogue among candidates, the press, and the people. He takes a close look at the exchange of ideas through language used in campaign speeches, political advertising, public debates, print and broadcast news, and a wide variety of letters to the editor. In each case, the participants choose their words differently, and this, according to Hart, can be a frustrating challenge to anyone trying to make sense of the issues. 2009 Election Ballot Information

On Aug. 25, PRSA Houston sent an electronic ballot to all chapter members, seeking their votes for new members of our 2009 leadership team. The participation of each chapter member in this process is very important.

Voting Instructions:
Each chapter member should receive a ballot invitation via e-mail that will contain a Unique Ballot ID for each member. Please do not delete your ballot until you have voted, as we are unable to forward it or your Ballot ID a second time.

1) Follow the link in the invitation
2) Use your ballot ID to verify your eligibility
3) Review the brief bios for each candidate
4) Make your selections, remembering to choose four candidates for director and two candidates for the assembly delegate

Election results will be announced at the PR Day luncheon on Sept. 23.

Please honor our candidates' willingness to serve our chapter by placing your votes today!
