Have you ever wanted to ask leaders in the public relations field about their career paths, their most successful PR campaigns, how they overcame a communications obstacle, their thoughts on the future of PR, or something else, but you just didn’t have the opportunity?

Now you do!

Join us on Thursday, Sept. 13, when leading PR “Sages” – from different industries – discuss their successes, their best methods of working with the media, the skills needed to succeed in PR, where PR is headed, and more. You ask the questions! You will sit with and enjoy a salad and entrée with one “Sage,” before switching to a different table to enjoy dessert and hear from another “Sage.”

The Sages include:

Alan Bernstein
director of communications, city of houston mayor sylvester turner

Alan Bernstein is director of communications for Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, supervising the mayor's direct communications to the public, media relations, social media use, ceremonial documents and HTV, the municipal TV channel. Before joining the mayor's staff in mid-2017, Bernstein was special assistant to Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen for two years and director of public affairs for Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia for six years. His career in government was preceded by 33 years of work as a reporter and editor at daily newspapers, including 29 at the Houston Chronicle, where he specialized in covering campaigns and elections. He has a bachelor’s of science degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
