Pitching journalists is the bread and butter for public relations professionals, and we’re diving in on Thursday, April 2 to learn how to be Pitch Perfect. Attendees will hear from John Steiger, senior assignment editor at KPRC, and Taisha Walker, a reporter at KPRC, about the best ways to pitch your news and, more importantly, get it published in your target outlets.

John Steiger, Senior Assignment Editor, KPRC

John is a 40-year veteran of Houston journalism with 35 of those years with KPRC. In 1984, John signed on with KPRC as an overnight “Police Beat” video journalist covering Houston crime before moving inside to the assignment desk when the Washington Post Company purchased KPRC from the Hobby family, and he has been there ever since. John has covered shuttle disasters, hurricanes, presidential conventions and many other major news events in Houston and around the world. John helped create and co-teaches the Police Public Information Officer program with the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas at Sam Houston State University.

Taisha Walker, Reporter, KPRC

Taisha joined KPRC as a nightside reporter in January 2018 from KMBC Kansas City, Missouri, where she has been since 2016. Before that, she worked for WCHS Charleston, West Virginia. Three years prior, she was a reporter/anchor at KOTA Rapid City, South Dakota. Taisha started her journey into TV news as an intern with NBC Nightly News in 2008. She has a Mass Media Arts degree from Clark Atlanta University and Broadcast Journalism degree from Syracuse University.

We’ll be adding more journalists and influencers to this great panel lineup, so stay tuned for more details on how you can connect the dots that lead to coverage.
