The Communications Manager leads and executes The Village School’s internal and external communications strategy to ensure clear, consistent, and compelling messaging across all platforms. This role oversees internal communications, school-wide newsletters, website management, event communications, and social media account management.

The Communications Manager collaborates closely with the Marketing Manager to align messaging with broader marketing initiatives, enrollment strategies, and brand positioning. The role supports community engagement, strengthens school culture, and enhances the visibility of The Village School within the Houston market and across the Nord Anglia network.

 QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field

·       Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or related field

·       Experience managing websites and content management systems

·       Experience managing organizational social media platforms

·       Strong writing, editing, and content development skills

·       Experience in independent school or educational environments preferred

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:

·       Demonstrated expertise in internal communications strategy and stakeholder messaging

·       Experience producing and managing digital and print newsletters

·       Experience overseeing website content strategy, organization, updates, and optimization

·       Strong understanding of social media strategy, content planning, engagement analytics, and brand voice

·       Familiarity with CRM systems and enrollment communications workflows

·       Understanding of brand governance and message consistency across multiple platforms

·       Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to support school initiatives and major events

·       Experience working with external vendors (photography, videography, print, digital services)

·       Working knowledge of SEO and digital content best practices

REPORTS TO / EVALUATED BY:

Director of Admissions and Marketing

Works in close collaboration with the Marketing Manager, Head of School, Division Principals, Admissions Team, and Nord Anglia Central Services.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Internal Communications

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive internal communications strategy for faculty, staff, and families
  • Produce and distribute regular school-wide newsletters
  • Draft key leadership communications on behalf of school administration
  • Ensure consistency and clarity of messaging across divisions

Website Management

  • Serve as primary manager of the school website
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and engaging content
  • Coordinate updates across academic divisions, admissions, athletics, boarding, and events
  • Monitor website performance and recommend improvements for user experience and engagement

 

Social Media Management

  • Develop and manage the school’s social media content calendar
  • Create and publish engaging, mission-aligned content
  • Monitor analytics and provide reporting on engagement and growth
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager on campaign-based initiatives

 

Event Communications

  • Lead communications strategy for major school events (Open House, Career Fair, community events, etc.)
  • Develop promotional materials and internal messaging to support attendance and engagement
  • Coordinate cohesive branding and messaging across platforms

 

Collaboration with Marketing

  • Partner with the Marketing Manager to ensure alignment between communications and broader marketing strategies
  • Support enrollment campaigns through coordinated messaging and storytelling
  • Maintain consistency of tone, voice, and visual identity across all channels
