Role 1: Digital Content / Social Media Manager

  • Develop and execute a digital content strategy and editorial calendar
  • Manage official social media platforms: drafting, scheduling, publishing, and monitoring
  • Shoot and edit photography and short-form video, including press conferences, events, and livestreams
  • Produce rapid-turnaround content for breaking news, subject to an approval process
  • Create graphics, infographics, maps, and visuals that explain legal and law enforcement topics clearly
  • Maintain an organized digital media library
  • Produce monthly analytics reports with recommendations

Role 2: Press Secretary

  • Build and maintain media relationships across Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Victoria, Laredo, and the Rio Grande Valley
  • Prepare principals for interviews and press events with talking points, quotes, and briefing materials
  • Manage incoming press inquiries and coordinate with internal staff
  • Plan and run press conferences and media availabilities
  • Review press releases for content, timing, and strategy
  • Monitor news and recommend proactive media opportunities

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, public affairs, media relations, or digital content
  • Former public information officers, government communicators, and broadcast photojournalists strongly preferred
  • Proven experience handling sensitive, nonpublic information under a review-and-approval process
  • Houston-area based and available on short notice for in-person coverage
  • Able to pass a federal background investigation
  • Portfolio of published work: social content, video, graphics, press materials, or media placements
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Engagement terms: Independent contractor or subcontracting firm. Engagement is contingent on a future federal contract award.
